Collar Factory, a striking Grade II listed building, which was once a former Victorian textile factory in Taunton was acquired by the company Forward Space in 2017.

Forward Space transformed the building and it now offers state-of-the-art co-working spaces with private offices, work pods, meeting rooms, a large members lounge and kitchen.

At the end of 2023 Forward Space teamed up with Digital Somerset, Teapot Creative and Tech South West, to launch ‘Start-up at Collar Factory’ – a competition to win a short-term, free tenancy studio space at Collar Factory.

Rockstone Media felt that this competition would be a great opportunity, so we put our pitch together explaining a little about our background, current and future plans and how the studio would benefit us.

We were delighted when we were informed that we had won the competition and officially moved into our very own private studio a week before Christmas 2023. What a great end to the year and start to 2024!

We have now made ourselves at home, enjoying the studio and facilities, talking to other members, and learning about their businesses and services. There is a spacious kitchen and lounge where events are regularly held and a large barista-style coffee machine – that we are still getting to grips with. Several furry 4-legged members seem to be very happy with their second residence and lunchtime walks.

We are still slightly in awe of the level of detail and consideration that has gone into this building. The interior and exterior have been sympathetically restored with original exposed brickwork and concrete and wooden floors.

With over 100 restored windows there’s plenty of natural light too. The distinctive arched windows at the front of the building must be a source of inspiration for the Collar Factory logo and branding.

We are enjoying the new studio space and very much looking forward to being a part of the Collar Factory community.
